Via Ferrata & ZIP Line

The canyon from above

Via ferrata (Bosnian: ferate) routes use iron rungs, cables and bridges fixed into the canyon rock face to allow non-climbers to ascend vertical and near-vertical sections of cliff safely. The Tara Canyon walls offer spectacular via ferrata terrain - sheer limestone faces draped in ferns, with the river glittering far below and Bosnian pine forest at the top.

After the ascent, our ZIP line crosses a section of the gorge and delivers a rush that's impossible to replicate on flat ground. The combination of via ferrata and ZIP line in a single half-day session is one of our most popular offerings - and one of the most photographed.

All equipment is provided and a safety briefing is given before departure. Our certified guides accompany the group throughout.

What to expect

You don't need to be a climber to do via ferrata. The iron fixtures do the technical work - your job is to clip in, follow the guide and enjoy the exposure. The key word is exposure: you will be high above the canyon floor with unobstructed views in all directions, and that feeling is the whole point.

If you have a fear of heights, this is still manageable with a good guide - many guests are pleasantly surprised by how empowering the ascent feels with the right support. Those who are truly uncomfortable with heights may prefer to join only the ZIP line portion.
