Explore the mountains above the Tara Canyon by 4x4 - off-road trails through ancient pine forests, highland villages and panoramic viewpoints. The canyon from a completely different angle. €70 per person.
The Tara Canyon is vast, and rafting only shows you one part of it. The Jeep Safari takes you onto the mountain trails above the canyon rim - rutted forest tracks, stone-paved old village roads and high meadow passes that no regular vehicle could reach.
Stops along the route include viewpoints where the canyon drops 1,300 metres below, abandoned highland hamlets with traditional Bosnian stone architecture, dense old-growth pine forest where the track is a tunnel of branches, and springs of ice-cold mountain water that taste better than anything bottled.
The safari runs in a convoy of robust 4x4 vehicles, each carrying 4-6 passengers plus an experienced local guide who knows the terrain and its history. No driving experience or licence is needed - you're a passenger on this one.
The price includes transport in 4x4 vehicles, a licensed local guide for the full duration, all off-road trail fees and a welcome coffee or tea at a highland stop along the route. Lunch at camp before or after the safari is available as an add-on.
