Canoeing on the Tara River

Explore the Tara Canyon at your own pace – gliding through crystal-clear water between 1,300-metre canyon walls. Canoeing is the most meditative way to experience the Tara. From €25.

Relaxed adventure

Your pace, your river

Canoeing on the Tara River is the ideal choice for anyone who wants to experience the canyon without the intensity of rafting. In a canoe, you set the pace – stopping to admire a waterfall, dipping your hand in the water or simply drifting in silence while canyon walls rise above you on both sides.

The Tara River is ranked among the clearest rivers in Europe – the water is so pure you can drink it straight from the river. In a canoe you're closer to the water than in a raft, which makes the whole experience more intimate and personal. You'll notice the fish darting beneath you, the reflections of the forest on the surface and the occasional splash of a kingfisher overhead.

No prior paddling experience is required. Our guides give you a brief practical introduction before departure, and accompany the group throughout the descent.
